the poll is interesting in that there is essentially no difference between hasner and lemieux, with mccallister doubling their position. what makes this more interesting is that mccallister has the poll numbers but he can't find much financial support among his numbers. he's raised little more than gas money to get to his speaking engagements. that, in my opinion, means soft support that is not really committed to his candidacy yet. we know he gets strong marks from the tea party groups who cheer his blood and glory speeches and swoon at his endless—and i do mean endless—chatter, but in real numbers, he fails to attract far too few broad-based republicans to indicate he could win over nelson. mccallister will need to get to the left of the radical unrealistic tea party ideologues and closer to the center to win. the connie mack numbers are curious as few know who he really is. i suspect the large response is more reflective of people's curiosity at this point in their response to his recent entry and this poll. perhaps it's much more reflective of the people's notion that they don't see a candidate that has magnetically drawn them to support, leaving voters wanting and looking for new entries. the message to hasner and lemieux might well be to get their message more focused and clear. today, neither candidate is getting through to the republican base in a way that singles them out for positive exceptional consideration. in the senate race, the beat goes on with such lackluster poll results.
