This poll is for anyone to take. It will not form policy and the real purpose is exploratory in capturing public opinion using this tool. A designation is underway to name the 45-mile beachside stretch from Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet in Ponce de Leon's honor. Also a 500th anniversary celebration in 2013 is also in the works. Recently Brevard county commissioners voted 4-1 to support naming the barrier island for Ponce de Leon.
