Female Interpreter Attire

black blouse with dark purple flowers

  1. these flowers are subtle enough that they blend in with the dark fabric. they create less eye strain, but i would take a backup just in case.
  2. this pattern is more subtle than the others, so perhaps it may be okay. but i still think it is too busy.
  3. i almost vote yes compared to the other choices but save the flowers for after work. maybe if there's an emergency call and i'm on the road and have no chance to change. but to consciously decide this is okay, no.
  4. some community assignments - not all
  5. provided solid color that matches (pants or skirt)
  6. this blouse does not seem to be distracting.
  7. patterns are never acceptable for interpreters.
  8. patterns again.
  9. the colors are dark enough for db, but the cut and chest may be too loose.
  10. again, i must admit that it is too distracting for our eyes to look at the interpreters. they can wear these outfits on their own time. but not during working hours. sorry!
  11. maybe. it depends on the length of the assignment and the lighting.
  12. possible k/12 if there are no visually disabled students using your services.
  13. it could be appropriate if you know the clients, but it is not as professional.
  14. this is borderline. the pattern is not distracting; however, i personally would not wear it. i think in our field, it is important to look professional. wearing patterns is, in my opinion, not conveying the message of being professional.
  15. still too pronounced a pattern, in my humble opinion.
  16. depends on the color of flowers.
  17. print is subtle, so perhaps very light community interpreting.
  18. maybe this one. maybe! if you know the client and it is a quick appointment and you know they are super relaxed.
  19. this is a pattern, but it is very subtle. i think this would be an okay blouse for your average interpreting assignment.
  20. it's dark, think okay.
  21. no patterns
  22. possible for some social situations
